Ava Shirley brings a wealth of experience and education to her architectural practice. Ava’s journey in architecture began with her undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, where she developed a strong foundation in design and theory. She further honed her skills at the University of Newcastle graduating from the Master of Architecture Degree with First Class Honours in 2014.
Prior to establishing Ava Shirley Architect, Ava spent several years at Peter Stutchbury Architecture, contributing to projects known for their innovative and sustainable design. This period allowed her to develop a keen eye for detail and a commitment to creating spaces that connect deeply with their surroundings.
Following her time in private practice, Ava brought her expertise to the City of Sydney Council, where she played a key role in urban projects. Her work here focused on balancing the needs of the community with the city’s long-term vision, giving her valuable insight into the complexities of city-making.
These experiences have shaped Ava’s holistic approach to architecture, blending the creative freedom of boutique practice with the strategic thinking required for large-scale projects.
Ava is dedicated to creating architecture that not only fulfills its purpose but also enhances the human experience, crafting spaces that are uplifting, hospitable and generous.
